John Stockwell - Ride for Parkinson's

My name is Donna McKinnon and I am a volunteer for Parkinson’s SA, an organisation which supports people and families living with Parkinson’s disease.

Recently we met a man, John Stockwell, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. John is 65, has ridden motorcycles all his life (he doesn’t own a car) and is a Ducati “nut”. John lives in Stone Hut, which is a small town of 26 people in the mid-North of South Australia close to the Southern Flinders Ranges.

John

John realises he may not be able to undertake major rides on his bike for too much longer. He has therefore decided to ride his motorbike around Australia 1.5 times to raise awareness of the disease and, hopefully, to raise some money for the work of Parkinson’s SA.

John is a member of the Ulysses group in Adelaide and is an active member of the Ducati owners group. He will be riding his favourite Ducati ST2 which already has over 220,000 km on the clock.

He is hoping to meet as many members he can from the Ulysses and Ducati groups along the way.

I am working to assist John in meeting up with many fellow bike riders on his journey.  He is hoping people will support his cause and if possible offer him a bed for the night when he arrives in their town.

Please see the attached flyer for more information, along with a photo of John. Could you please spread the word about John by forwarding this email on to your club members and encourage them to consider catching up with John if he is heading their way and perhaps offering him a bed for the night.

If people are interested, could you please advise them to email John directly with their name, address and phone number.

Another notable point your members might be interested in, is that various friends, the Ducati owners group,  local Ulysses members and motor cyclists from within the Parkinson’s community will be riding along with John when he leaves S.A. It would be great if other people in other states could do the same when he arrives at or leaves their town.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you have any other questions, please contact John directly: tackasp3@gmail.com or  0419916996

John will also have a SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger with him and he can be tracked along his route using the web address: http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0jYjFtQEWZ6j...

John will also be updating his Facebook page daily:  https://www.facebook.com/john.stockwell.370/

President Gregg is also an active member of the Ulysses Club and is already in touch with John. We hope to organise a gathering of some Parkos and some Ulyssians to greet John in Port Macquarie.
